BaltSun: University of Maryland, Baltimore to Open Student Innovation Center

Friday, March 10, 2017

University of Maryland, Baltimore plans to launch a student innovation center this summer.

The center will bring together the university's existing entrepreneurship resources and aim to expand opportunities for students to be involved in commercializing research alongside staff and faculty.

The center will be based on the UMB campus, but the exact location has not been determined.

"We'd like this to be a nexus where we can have students, staff and faculty from all the UMB schools but also all the [University System of Maryland] schools interacting," said Jim Hughes, the chief enterprise and economic development officer at UMB.
