libASPP: The Asynchronous Standard Parallel Port Library

Print Save as PDF

Overview

The Asynchronous Standard Parallel Port Library (libASPP) is a module developed at the University of Maryland that asynchronously sends various event signals to other devices for data synchronization. The asynchronous signal transfer feature is implemented using a multiple timer queue, which allows the sender to process its algorithms and data collection without waiting for the receipt from the recipients. This results in better throughput, latency, and responsiveness. libASPP is compatible with any program that communicates with other systems via the IEEE 1284 standard, which allows for bidirectional communications between computers and other devices.
